Today, Tanzania and East Africa's first female president has been sworn in infront of delegates and the people of Tanzania.
Madam president Her Excellency Sumia Suluha Hassan took office today as president after the sudden and mysterious death of the former president the late John Mafuguli
She has encouraged many of her people to hold hands, not blame each other and have a United Tanzania.
She has been described as soft spoken, one who puts people first and puts country before self.
" Today, I have taken an oath in a country that is mourning. It is not a happy time but I promise to fulfill all the things the late president wanted to do. "
This is the sixth time Tanzania has had a peaceful transition in power unlike her sister countries in East Africa and has been praised for that and upholding the Constitution.
Many opposition leaders are claiming the late Mafuguli died of Corona virus and was ill for a while though the government denies these claims.
The country is going to have 21 days of mourning and public holidays on 25th March when the president will be buried.
Many of the people are mourning, sad and had good things to say about the late even though he also had flaws of his own just like any human.
May the soul of the late rest in peace.
