The internet was set a blaze the whole of yesterday and today morning, when NBS news anchor Samson Kasumba released tweets questioning the behaviors of youths of this generation. It all began with a tweet he made while applauding fellow NBS news anchor, Canary Mugume, where he said, "If half the young people were half as hard working as you are, quarter as passionate as you are and three quarters as patient as you are @CanaryMugume I don't know where Uganda would be with young values."
Tell you what, the youths on Twitter didn't take this tweet lightly as it got heavy and angry comments ????. "How dare you compare a person who wakes up to wear suits, has an assured salary and allowances to someone who wakes up with no hope for getting money but goes on to hustle?" said one of the youths in the comment section. As though the Canary tweet wasn't enough, Samson added another tweet that broke hell lose. "We have a generation that finds taking weed a "Kool" thing, drinking till morning is "hanging out", pregnancy is worse than being HIV positive, it's Ok on a boda boda without a helmet, and you can insult anyone you want that's what freedom of speech is for? What a time!"
Dear youth, are you okay with Mr Samson's complaints? Well, Twitter wasn't happy with these tweets at all and the hundreds of comments did show that. However, the story got a twist when another next media journalist, Desire Derekford Mugumisa tweeted saying Samson's account had been HACKED!!!! Really? Do you believe that? Desire tweeted saying "A few hours ago, @SamsonKasumba's account was hacked and some inappropriate content was shared. Our digital team headed by @deejahn has since sorted the issue." This came in after a one Fine Boy Kera said that Samson had liked a tweet that had sexual content and the movie began afresh.
Kasumba has since then been on a rampage, releasing tweet after tweet, some in his defence, like this particular one, "I am only responsible for what I do. Ever since I handed over my passwords to security of all my gadgets I do not believe I am the only one operating my accounts." Whether it's Kasumba who tweeted those fire tweets or a hacker, point is, the goal seems to have been driven home.
