What started as a simple fresher's ball event at the Havard of Africa, Makerere University turned into a wild storm yesterday as Makerere officially welcomed its latest set of freshers.
After a long time of waiting for the main act of the night (Eddy Kenzo) he appeared on stage amidst wild cheers and performed a whole host of songs including; Semyekozo, Tweyagale, Sitya Loss and Jubilation among others.
It was during his performance of his popular hit song, Weekend when all hell broke loose. Makerere students from different halls, as their hall culture usually entails wanted to show their supremacy by getting onto stage with Kenzo.
In the middle of this, since no one wanted to be last to get to Kenzo to have a mention of their hall being the best at Makerere, a fight commenced and beer bottles started being thrown around.
Kenzo's security team gets alerted.
On noticing the students were getting rowdy, Kenzo's security detail acted swiftly and tried to whisk the musician off stage only to be met with resistance from the artist himself.
Eddy Kenzo refused to get off stage demanding to know what was going on and why he could not give the students a good time. He loudly spoke "Lindako, Kiki Ekigaanye" (wait what is happening) through the microphone to try and resolve was happening around the stage.
This is when somebody sent a live Guinness bottle flying through the air targeting Eddy Kenzo and Uganda police immediately responded with teargas shots to the crowds.

Eddy Kenzo survives
The beer bottle missed Kenzo luckily but hit one of his team members called Fic Love on the head hence making him bleed profusely. The entire team from Big Talent is said to have hid under the stage together with Kenzo for a few minutes before they ran towards their cars parked in the nearby Makerere Main Library Parking space.
One student recounts hearing Eddy Kenzo crying for where his friend Fic Love was at during the chaos. Fic Love who was hit on the head however received first aid and his head was wrapped in a bandage before the entire team fled in a Prado TX( Ronaldo).
